Hi! I’m Dr Paula Dumas. Welcome to History By Paula, a website all about study skills and life hacks for surviving and succeeding at college or university. Here you’ll find tips and tricks for making student life better and getting the most out of your time at school.
I have been studying and teaching at universities in Canada and Great Britain for most of the past 16 years! I’m currently a Tutor of History at the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Open Studies in Glasgow, Scotland, but I have also taught at the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland, and at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. I have a PhD in History, a Postgraduate Certificate in Online and Distance Education, and my first book, Proslavery Britain, was published in 2016. You can find out more about my research on the group history blog, Isles Abroad.
I love being a student! I started this website to share some of the stuff I’ve learned through my experiences to help students enjoy postsecondary education, learn a lot, gain new skills, and come out of school ready to take on the bigger world. History By Paula will explore a whole range of topics, including study skills, life hacks, job ready-ness, and so much more!
